Why take yoga lessons?

Yoga is one of the oldest physical, breathing and spiritual practices in the world. There are many reasons why people are drawn to yoga. These include:

  • Improved well-being
  • Improved flexibility, strength and/or stamina
  • Stress reduction
  • Better sleep
  • The spiritual side of yoga
  • The meditative aspects of yoga

By diligent yoga practice, all these things will start to happen. They will be the stepping stones on the path towards the ultimate goal which is getting to know your real you - the self-realisation.

Being in the present moment, being aware of your body, breath and mind is something that stays with you long after you leave a yoga class.

Types of yoga styles we do

We offer many different types of Yoga styles, read about the styles we teach, and let us know what style best suites you.

  • Ashtanga yoga / Energising
Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga is a type of yoga where through a series of postures linked together by breath and movement synchronicity one achieves calmness and clarity of mind and a strength, flexibility and stamina of the physical body.

The series comprises of about 60 postures, which begin with sun salutations, then continues through standing postures, sitting postures and then a closing sequence (followed in this order). The practitioner does postures in a dynamic flowing sequence.  The sequence is learned gradually,  developing the awareness of the breath, body and mind.

  • Allignment based yoga
This type of yoga is characterised by its precision and attention to detail. Precisely for these reasons, it is the perfect type of yoga for people with health problems, such as back, knee, shoulder, wrist pain, and many others.  Alignment-based yoga also excellently compliments other styles of yoga; the precision you will have learnt from it will keep you injury-free and well-aligned at whichever style of yoga you embark upon.

  • Restorative yoga/ Recovery from injury
With today’s sedentary lifestyle, back pain is one of the most common health problems in the UK.  Combined with the poor posture it can cause lots of agony and pain.  Yoga can be the perfect ally in how to improve it.  Other common problems that can be treated with yoga include knee, shoulder, wrist injuries, indigestion, insomnia and many others.  When treating a health problem, the teacher has to be well-experienced and knowledgeable in how to treat that particular issue because not all the postures may be suitable for it.  Our teachers have that expertise and would love to help you.

  • Pregnancy Yoga
Make your pregnancy more enjoyable, reduce the level of aches and discomfort and prepare yourself for labour. From 13 weeks right up to labour, yoga practice can support you and your baby both on the physical and emotional level.  Through yoga you will learn how to embrace the physical changes the pregnancy brings, how to reduce the back pain, swollen ankles, indigestion, insomnia, anxiety and many others.  We also specialise in treating the SPD (Symphysis Pubis Disorder) pain. During our preparation for birth workshops you will learn more about the labour, what to expect and how to cope in the best possible way with its challenges. You will learn how to develop the awareness of breath and how to use it in labour. Partner yoga during pregnancy is highly recommended so that the birth partners become also empowered with knowledge and physical practice on how to help the pregnant woman go through labour in the best possible way.

  • Post Natal Yoga
Women usually start feeling ready for some gentle exercise about 6 weeks after giving birth.  Whether you had an ‘easy’ birth or a difficult one, the birthing muscles and the whole body need time to recover before embarking upon exercising again. Yoga is the perfect way to start that process and it is a great way to gain back your figure and posture. Toning of the core muscles is imperative at that stage of a woman’s life because it will prevent possible health problems in the future, such as back pain, incontinence, and many others.  We also hold post natal classes to which babies under 10 months are welcome. They are great fun for both mums and babies.

  • Yoga for complete beginners
When people think about yoga one of the first things that comes to their mind is the issue of flexibility and how they cannot start yoga because they are not flexible. In our beginners sessions, we completely take that myth away and show that yoga is, indeed, for everyone.  Having a few private sessions with one of our friendly, non-intimidating and experienced instructors will take away all your reservations and preconceived ideas about yoga and it will prepare you to join the group classes at your local gym or a yoga centre without feeling out of place.  This can be again shared with the group of friends to make it more fun and affordable.
